Cookbook & Real-World Recipes
Welcome to the Aegis Save Cookbook. Rather than requiring you to download, configure, and inspect a massive monolithic demo project, this cookbook provides production-ready, copy-pasteable patterns covering the most common gameplay persistence systems.
Every recipe is fully documented in both Blueprint and C++, complete with step-by-step implementation instructions, visual logic flows, and lifecycle considerations.
Available Recipes
💡 Production Proven
These recipes reflect the exact architectural patterns validated by the Aegis acceptance test suite (AC-101 through AC-810).
1. Interactive Door & Moving Props
Build an interactive hinged or sliding door. Learn the 3-Point Visual Pattern to smoothly animate open/closed rotations on player interaction while instantly snapping 3D meshes to their saved pose without audio blasts on level loads and in-place checkpoint reloads.
2. Interactive Loot Chest & Container
Build a persistent treasure chest with an opening animation, an inventory array, and interactive loot drops. Learn how to use WasDestroyedByLoad to guarantee that loot is never duplicated when reloading a save.
3. Player Progression & Multi-Scope Systems
Separate your game's data cleanly across World, Player, and Global scopes. Keep character stats and inventory intact across map transitions, while storing account-wide meta-progression (achievements, unlocks) independently of save slots.
4. World Partition Open World Setup
Configure persistence across massive open worlds with streaming cells. Track defeated enemy outposts, harvested resource nodes, and altered world geometry across streaming evictions and grid re-partitioning.
5. Procedural & Dynamic Runtime Spawning
Spawn persistent items dynamically during gameplay (dropped weapons, player-constructed campfires) using SpawnPersistentActor. Discover how Aegis prevents save file bloat by cleaning up spawned records on destruction without leaving tombstones (R-12).
6. In-Game Save/Load Browser UI
Implement a professional UMG save/load menu. Read slot metadata (Get All Slot Info) in sub-milliseconds without decompressing world data, format timestamps and playtime, and handle slot deletion cleanly.
Which Recipe Should You Start With?
- If you want to understand how 3D meshes react to loaded data: Start with Recipe 1: Interactive Door.
- If you need containers and loot drops: Jump to Recipe 2: Interactive Loot Chest.
- If you are building an RPG with inventories: Go to Recipe 3: Player Progression.
- If you are building a massive landscape with World Partition: Check out Recipe 4: World Partition Open World.
